We’re past forty (in some cases, pushing 50) and the kids are, for the most part, grown up. Homework and Parents’ Day is a thing of the past. Now is the time we can concentrate fully on us and our career — or so you’d think.

I always thought that ageism and sexism in the workplace was slightly exaggerated, until I faced it myself. Summer last, year, I was re-employed with a company I had previously worked…
